The Newest of LA Nightlife: MyHouse Review

Gone are the days when all that was needed to throw a slammin’ house party were a couple of kegs, a semi-decent sound system, and chill neighbors who didn’t call the cops on you before midnight. With the recent introduction of MyHouse onto the Los Angeles nightlife scene, the meaning of what a house party is, and should be, has been completely redefined.

Last Friday, at the invitation of a friend, I left my very own house doubtful of what MyHouse could possibly have to offer that other clubs in Hollywood didn’t. My skepticism was short-lived, as it was quickly checked at the door the moment I crossed the threshold into the 10,000 square foot venue. Upon being ushered in, I was given a comprehensive tour of the establishment; what I was met with was nothing short of impressive. Although the concept of modeling a nightclub after a home is not unprecedented, the manner in which the club’s principal designer, Dodd Mitchell, interpreted and executed the concept certainly was. Although Mitchell took a minimalist approach in modeling the club after a modern day dream home, no luxurious detail seemed to have been spared. After making my way through the roomy dance floor located just off of the lushly furnished main lounge-like “living room”, I proceeded up a few stairs to the establishment’s contemporary “kitchen” which dually functioned as the main bar. Upon being equipped with a solid drink by one of the spiffily dressed bartenders, I ventured through the dining room to the spacious patio where I was pleasantly greeted by an inviting fire pit and equally inviting, albeit surprising, Jacuzzi amongst other things. Once I made my way back inside, I advanced up a flight of stairs to the second floor where the fully furnished master bedroom-complete with scantily clad women posing for pictures on rumpled sheets-was located.

By the time my grand tour had finished, a steady stream of Los Angeles’ most social had filtered in. Situated amongst these very club-goers were some of the who’s who of reality television, including Kim Kardashian, Lauren Conrad, and Nole Marin, amongst others. Over the course of the night, all those in attendance seemed to have as great a time as I; as the drinks kept flowing, the house DJ spun great tune after great tune, and the energy of the club never relented until the 2:00 a.m. closing. While it is nearly impossible to determine whether or not the club’s recipe of combining the amenities and comforts of home with the stimulation of a nightclub will be one of lasting success, one thing remains for certain: MyHouse is anything but your typical neighborhood home or Hollywood club and definitely worth a firsthand look.

This club is so hot, and this is like the only review online! Thank God someone finally did it.

MyHouse seems pretty decent though I’d like a star rating or something of the sort to see how it compares to Apple and ecco and the rest. I think it’s absolutely fascinating how they made it into a real house. Is it a pretty expensive place? How much are drinks?
